SCOTUS?

When did this become a widely used acronym for the Supreme Court of the United States? It's all I hear these days. It must be a rip-off of POTUS.

    Work for a legal-related company and follow law blogs and you'd have been seeing it nonstop for the last ten months. The consensus among my friends is that it looks far too much like the word "scrotum" to be acceptable in every-day use.
